We had a great Resurrection Sunday yesterday! Wasn’t it wonderful to worship with a full house? Of course I realize that on Easter there are a lot of guests in our service, however we have been seeing a lot of new faces joining us every Sunday. Make an effort to greet them and make them feel welcome.
I want to share something with you and ask you to do something with me. Lately I have been very burdened about the lost. If you haven’t noticed, over the last few weeks my sermons have had a very strong evangelistic tone to them. I can’t really explain it, I just feel an urgency about making sure people have the opportunity to respond to the gospel. I just feel it in my spirit.
As a result, I would like to ask you to join in a season of prayer and fasting for people to be saved. Last summer I preached about fasting. I called us to a fast. I said that I hoped that you all would make fasting a part of your spiritual disciplines. I know some of you do. I know that others of you will when asked to enter a season for it. I am asking now for our church body to begin to fast and pray for the salvation of our community. It is not going to be a formal fast where I am asking you to make a commitment on a calendar or anything like that. I am just asking us to do it. You fast any way you like. One meal a day, a full 24 hours, 3 days. However the Lord leads you. As I ask us to pray about people being saved I am reminded of Jesus’ words in Matthew 9:37-38, “… The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
We know there is a great and ripe harvest. Let us ask God to raise up harvesters, workers into His harvest field. You know, I always say that when you pray about something that is clearly spoken of in scripture then you can be certain it will be answered! In essence I am asking us to enter a season of prayer and fasting for something which we can just begin by thanking God for doing it because we know it will be done! It is what He told us to pray for.
Hope you all have a great week. Enjoy this spring weather. Fast. Pray.
Love you all
