TELL ME THE STORY OF JESUS

TELL ME THE STORY OF JESUS . . .

This is such a perfect hymn for Christmas and any time of the year.  It tells of Jesus birth all the way through his crucifixion on the cross, the burial and the resurrection and how He lives again.

We sang this hymn in worship this past Sunday and I was particularly touched by verse 3,

Love in that story so tender,
Clearer than ever I see,
Stay let me weep while you whisper,
Love paid the ransom for me.

We go through our Christian walk; we try to love others and give of ourselves.  We go to church and lift our voices together in worship.  We pray.  We fail sometimes and are so grateful when God forgives us.  We get up and keep moving. Sometimes this can become robotic almost, at least for me.

Then sometimes we will sing a hymn like the one mentioned and then suddenly it comes alive again.  Then we realize how much we love to hear the story of Jesus. How much we crave to be reminded of what Christ did for us.  Clearer than ever I see!!

I posted a Christmas wish recently on social media to my family and friends that read. . .

“Wishing you God’s blessings in the beautiful season of light and love.  Merry Christmas”

Season of light. It reminded me of the story of Jesus, the light of the world, John 8:12 “Jesus said, I am the Light of the World; he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of Life.”

Season of love.  God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to rescue us. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The gospel, the good news.  It’s what Christmas is all about. The ultimate gift – Jesus, our Messiah and our Savior.

“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift” 2 Corinthians 9:15.

For His Glory,   Debbie
