THANK YOU OH MY FATHER

THANK YOU OH MY FATHER . . .
For giving us Your Son
And leaving Your Spirit til
The work on earth is done.
This past Sunday we celebrated the resurrection of our Lord.  We sang about how He went to the cross and suffered and died there, how He was buried in Joseph’s tomb, and how three days later He tore the bars away and came out of that grave.  We sang that we have a Redeemer who is Christ the Lord.  We sang and thanked God for giving us His Son and we thanked Him for leaving His Holy Spirit with us until the work on earth done;  God’s work on earth that He a lot of times uses us, the believers to carry out.

This is the thought that stayed with me after service was over, the Lord leaving the Holy Spirit to be with us until the end.  I knew I wanted to write my article about this subject, but when I started looking at the Scripture and thinking about what I wanted to write, I soon realized that this is a very deep and complex subject.  How do you write a few words to contain everything the Holy Spirit is and is meant to do?

So, I just think back on sermons I’ve heard through the years that taught me what the purpose of the Holy Spirit is.   Jesus said He would send the Spirit to be our Helper, Comforter and Guide, since He cannot be here on earth with us.

John 14: 16 & 17 “Jesus said, And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever, the Spirit of truth…..”John 16: 13 “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth”.

John 6:19 “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?..

The Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us when we receive Jesus as our Savior and Lord.  He is there helping us to understand Scripture as we read it, “guiding us into all truth”.  He is our Counselor, one who comes alongside us, encouraging and exhorting us.

The Father thought of everything for us, His children.  He knew we would never make it into eternity with Him on our own.  He gave the greatest sacrifice, His Son, His own self to be the spotless, clean sacrifice that it would take to pay our sin debt.  There was no other way.
I don’t begin to understand everything, very little as a matter of fact.  I know that I believe as a child believes.  Trusting my Savior to do exactly what He said He would do.  And He did!
For His Glory,
Debbie
