BK’S KORNER
Yesterday as I was contemplating everything I must do between now and the end of December, I was overcome by a sense of dread.  That usually doesn’t happen to me in the Christmas season.  I normally love the Holidays.  However, there are so many things that need to be done between now and then that I just wish it was over already.

This morning as I continued to think about it, God reminded me of the very first Christmas. The night that Christ was born. There was a lot of things that had to be taken care of at that time too.  Joseph and Mary were traveling back to Bethlehem.  They had to go to the family’s hometown so they could register for tax purposes.  Likely the little town was swelling to over maximum capacity with travelers.  I’m sure there were people everywhere.  Business was surely being conducted since so many people were in one place.  I’m sure markets were full. We know the hotels were full. Livery stables were certainly busy.  Roadside shops must have been filled. Let us not forget the all-important task of going to the tax office to register.  So many things happening and needing to happen. I’m sure it was overwhelming.

Yet, tucked off behind an Inn was a stable.  Inside, away from all the hustle and bustle of daily living was a man, his wife, and their newborn child. I get a sense of Peace when I think about it. That’s what I need to do during this season.  Life is happening. Church life is happening. Family life is happening. Yet I must find some time to go in the stable. Time to get alone with my Savior. Time to focus on Him and what Christmas is really about.  I must put myself there to experience the Peace that this season is meant to bring.  I hope you will do the same. Enjoy the season, the lights, the colors, the kids, the food, and everything that goes with it.  Just make sure you enjoy the Savior as well. Merry Christmas.

I hope that you will be participating in all the happenings going on here at The First Baptist Church during this Holiday season. Things like: The parade. The Christmas Crusade. A Taste of Christmas. Christmas Eve Candlelight/Lord’s Supper service. Also, our Christmas morning Family gathering. Not to mention regular worship services and oh yeah, The Christian Wrestling Federation!

Let us Worship LORD this Holiday Season! Let us be thankful for the birth of His Son and the free gift of salvation that is brings.

Merry Christmas to all
Blessings
